Our Story
How It Started
In late 2023 two sets of best friends rekindled an old friendship that had begun back in 1998 Silver Lake. Only this time we weren’t insolvent, wrinkle free & in our twenties.
We had some minor DIY success and were now menopausal with husbands and kids and dogs and jobs and responsible for parental caregiving … oh my!
At 5pm while having dinner at our fave (Crossroads Kitchen) Heather asked if we’d be down to start a foundation together-putting our Gen X “boobs on the ground approach” into action!
It didn’t matter that we had zero knowledge of starting a nonprofit or what our objectives would be-the idea was something that felt right at this point in our lives.
The only thing we did know was that we wanted to do good sh•t!
Figuring out what mattered to us didn’t take long.

The Alzheimer’s umbrella was important, since Heather and Mychelle had lost a parent to this totally effed up disease. Environmental issues and animal welfare is a big fat passion of ours and Kara’s drive for uplifting underserved youth was a must.
So with the help of Keri keeping us all within the guidelines of a legit 501c3 ( at times she must have felt like she was herding grasshoppers ) we nailed down our ambitions :
• Alzheimer’s and dementia support.
• Environmental/animal advocacy to create healthy and
happy communities.
• Supporting underserved youth so our future generations can
kick buns.
We bend the rules when we can and we have a damn good time while doing it.
If you are looking to support a foundation that is very professional and buttoned up… we are not your jam. If you’d like to laugh and watch 4 dorks try their best to make change and create ripples of kindness before 10pm (these gals like to eat early & be toes up by 9) then welcome to the Judy Jane Foundation!!
Let’s do good sh•t …TOGETHER!
Where We Are Today

JJF was named after Heather’s mom Judy Jane. She lost her battle with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2016 at the age of 65.
Let’s all pour one out for Judy… and may all of your dinner parties make Martha Stewart jealous!
